Amazon Linux 2 : perl-Crypt-OpenSSL-RSA (ALAS-2025-2942)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 243253

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of perl-Crypt-OpenSSL-RSA installed on the remote host is prior to 0.28-7. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2025-2942 advisory.

A timing-based side-channel flaw exists in the perl-Crypt-OpenSSL-RSA package, which could be sufficient to recover plaintext across a network in a Bleichenbacher-style attack. To achieve successful decryption, an attacker would have to be able to send a large number of trial messages. The vulnerability affects the legacy PKCS#1v1.5 RSA encryption padding mode. (CVE-2024-2467)

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the tested product security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update perl-Crypt-OpenSSL-RSA' to update your system.
