Fedora 42 : libinput (2025-deb3a02c42)

high Nessus Plugin ID 242596

Language:

Synopsis

The remote Fedora host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote Fedora 42 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FEDORA-2025-deb3a02c42 advisory.

libinput 1.28.903 - fixes key events accidentally printed (and thus logged to the system log) if debug logs were enabled at the compositor level.
Only affects the recent 1.28.901 and 1.28.902 releases, mutter/wlroots are unaffected but kwin and Xorg may log depending on whether the user has enabled debug logging (which is unlikely).

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Fedora security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libinput package.
