Siemens Solid Edge < SE2025 Update 5 Multiple Vulnerabilities (SSA-091753)

high Nessus Plugin ID 241712

Synopsis

A CAD application installed on the remote Windows host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of Siemens Solid Edge installed on the remote Windows host is prior to SE2025 Update 5. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as disclosed in the SSA-091753 vendor advisory:

- The affected applications contain an out of bounds read past the end of an allocated structure while parsing specially crafted PAR files. This could allow an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process. (CVE-2025-40739, CVE-2025-40740)

- The affected applications contain a stack based overflow vulnerability while parsing specially crafted CFG files. This could allow an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process. (CVE-2025-40741)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Siemens Solid Edge 2025 Update 5 or later.
