Synopsis

The version of Dante Discovery installed on the remote Windows host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Dante Discovery installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 1.2.1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability. mDNSResponder.exe is vulnerable to DLL Sideloading attack. Executable improperly specifies how to load the DLL, from which folder and under what conditions. In these scenarios, a malicious attacker could be using the valid and legitimate executable to load malicious files.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Dante Discovery version 1.2.1 or later.
