Description

The version of GitLab installed on the remote host is affected by a vulnerability, as follows:

- An issue has been discovered in GitLab CE/EE affecting all versions from 17.3 before 17.11.5, 18.0 before 18.0.3, and 18.1 before 18.1.1 that could have allowed authenticated users to gain elevated project privileges by requesting access to projects where role modifications during the approval process resulted in unintended permission grants. (CVE-2025-2938)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to GitLab version 17.11.5, 18.0.3, 18.1.1 or later.
