critical Nessus Plugin ID 240460

Description

The remote host is affected by the vulnerability described in GLSA-202506-11 (YAML-LibYAML: Shell injection)

YAML-LibYAML uses the legacy '2-arg' open() call which is susceptible to shell injection via malicious filenames.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Gentoo Linux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

All YAML-LibYAML users should upgrade to the latest version:

# emerge --sync # emerge --ask --oneshot --verbose >=dev-perl/YAML-LibYAML-0.903.0
