TencentOS Server 3: httpd:2.4 (TSSA-2024:0217)

high Nessus Plugin ID 238741

Synopsis

The remote TencentOS Server 3 host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of Tencent Linux installed on the remote TencentOS Server 3 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the TSSA-2024:0217 advisory.

Package updates are available for TencentOS Server 3 that fix the following vulnerabilities:

CVE-2023-31122:
A flaw was found in the mod_macro module of httpd. When processing a very long macro, the null byte terminator will not be added, leading to an out-of-bounds read, resulting in a crash.

CVE-2023-45802:
A flaw was found in mod_http2. When a HTTP/2 stream is reset (RST frame) by a client, there is a time window were the request's memory resources were not reclaimed immediately. Instead, de-allocation was deferred to connection close. A client could send new requests and resets, keeping the connection busy and open, causing the memory footprint to keep on growing. On connection close, all resources are reclaimed but the process might run out of memory before connection close.

Tenable has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Tencent Linux security advisory.

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
