Synopsis

A VPN client installed on remote Windows host is affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability.

Description

The version of Palo Alto GlobalProtect App installed on the remote macOS host is 6.x prior to 6.2.8-h2 or 6.3.x prior to 6.3.3. It is, therefore, affected by a privilege escalation vulnerability:

- An improper neutralization of wildcards vulnerability in the log collection feature of Palo Alto Networks GlobalProtect™ app on macOS allows a non administrative user to escalate their privileges to root. (CVE-2025-4232)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Palo Alto GlobalProtect App version 6.2.8-h2, 6.3.3 or later
