Synopsis

remote Windows host is missing one or more security-related updates.

Description

The version of FortiClient installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the FG-IR-24-365 advisory.

- A improper validation of certificate with host mismatch in Fortinet FortiClientWindows version 7.4.0, versions 7.2.0 through 7.2.6, and 7.0 all versions allow an unauthorized attacker to redirect VPN connections via DNS spoofing or another form of redirection. (CVE-2024-54019)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

For 7.0.x, see vendor advisory. For 7.2.x, upgrade to FortiClient version 7.2.7 or later. For 7.4.x, upgrade to FortiClient version 7.4.1 or later.
