Synopsis

A device management application running on the remote host is affected by a DOM based cross-site scripting vulnerability.

Description

The VMware Aria Automation application running on the remote host is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the VMSA-2025-0008 advisory.

- VMware Aria automation contains a DOM based Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability. A malicious actor may exploit this issue to steal the access token of a logged in user of VMware Aria automation appliance by tricking the user into clicking a malicious crafted payload URL. (CVE-2025-22249)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to VMware Aria Automation version 8.18.1 patch 2 or later or apply the appropriate patch as advised in the vendor advisory.
