Azure Linux 3.0 Security Update: pgbouncer (CVE-2025-2291)

high Nessus Plugin ID 235217

Synopsis

The remote Azure Linux host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The version of pgbouncer installed on the remote Azure Linux 3.0 host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the CVE-2025-2291 advisory.

- Password can be used past expiry in PgBouncer due to auth_query not taking into account Postgres its VALID UNTIL value, which allows an attacker to log in with an already expired password (CVE-2025-2291)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected packages.
