Debian DSA-1131-1 : apache - buffer overflow

high Nessus Plugin ID 22673
New! Plugin Severity Now Using CVSS v3

The calculated severity for Plugins has been updated to use CVSS v3 by default. Plugins that do not have a CVSS v3 score will fall back to CVSS v2 for calculating severity. Severity display preferences can be toggled in the settings dropdown.

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Mark Dowd discovered a buffer overflow in the mod_rewrite component of apache, a versatile high-performance HTTP server. In some situations a remote attacker could exploit this to execute arbitrary code.

Upgrade the apache package.

For the stable distribution (sarge) this problem has been fixed in version 1.3.33-6sarge2.
