Synopsis

The remote SMTP server is affected by a denial of service vulnerability.

Description

The remote host is running MailEnable, a commercial mail server for Windows.

The SMTP server bundled with the version of MailEnable installed on the remote host is affected by a flaw in which SPF lookups for domains with large records may result in a NULL pointer exception in the SMTP service. An unauthenticated, remote attacker can exploit this issue to crash the affected service.

Solution

Apply Hotfix ME-10014.
