Synopsis

The remote host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of Mattermost Server installed on the remote host is prior to 9.5.12, 9.11.4, 10.0.2, 10.1.2 or 10.2.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the MMSA-2024-00386 advisory.

 - Mattermost versions 10.0.x <= 10.0.1, 10.1.x <= 10.1.1, 9.11.x <= 9.11.3, 9.5.x <= 9.5.11 fail to properly validate email addresses which allows an unauthenticated user to bypass email domain restrictions via carefully crafted input on email registration. (CVE-2024-11599)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mattermost Server version 9.5.12 / 9.11.4 / 10.0.2 / 10.1.2, 10.2.0 or later.
