Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security-related patch.

Description

A buffer overflow has been discovered in the SVG importer of Inkscape.
By tricking an user into opening a specially crafted SVG image this could be exploited to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the Inkscape user.

Note that Tenable Network Security has extracted the preceding description block directly from the Ubuntu security advisory. Tenable has attempted to automatically clean and format it as much as possible without introducing additional issues.

Solution

Update the affected inkscape package.
