Synopsis

SolarWinds Serv-U is affected by a vulnerability

Description

The version of SolarWinds Serv-U installed on the remote host is prior to 15.4.2 HF1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the serv-u_15_4_2_hotfix_1 advisory.

 - A highly privileged account can overwrite arbitrary files on the system with log output. The log file path tags were not sanitized properly. (CVE-2024-28072)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Serv-U version 15.4.2 HF1 or later.
