Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for pmix.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 9 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2024:2199 advisory.

- OpenPMIx PMIx before 4.2.6 and 5.0.x before 5.0.1 allows attackers to obtain ownership of arbitrary files via a race condition during execution of library code with UID 0. (CVE-2023-41915)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL pmix package based on the guidance in RHSA-2024:2199.
