Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing one or more security updates for java-1.8.0-openjdk.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 7 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2024:1817 advisory.

 - OpenJDK: long Exception message leading to crash (8319851) (CVE-2024-21011)

 - OpenJDK: integer overflow in C1 compiler address generation (8322122) (CVE-2024-21068)

 - OpenJDK: Pack200 excessive memory allocation (8322114) (CVE-2024-21085)

 - OpenJDK: C2 compilation fails with Exceeded _node_regs array (8317507) (CVE-2024-21094)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL java-1.8.0-openjdk package based on the guidance in RHSA-2024:1817.
