Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for rear.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 8 host has a package installed that is affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2024:1719 advisory.

 - rear: creates a world-readable initrd (CVE-2024-23301)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL rear package based on the guidance in RHSA-2024:1719.
