Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2023 host is missing a security update.

Description

It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2023-2024-582 advisory.

 - Affected versions of this package are vulnerable to Denial of Service (DoS) when using arbitrary strings as text input and the number of characters passed into PIL.ImageFont.ImageFont.getmask() is over a certain limit. This can lead to a system crash. (ALAS2023-2024-582)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'dnf update python-pillow --releasever 2023.4.20240401' to update your system.
