Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote Windows host is affected by a vulnerability.

Description

The version of Firefox ESR installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 115.9.1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the mfsa2024-16 advisory.

- An attacker was able to inject an event handler into a privileged object that would allow arbitrary JavaScript execution in the parent process. Note: This vulnerability affects Desktop Firefox only, it does not affect mobile versions of Firefox. (CVE-2024-29944)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mozilla Firefox ESR version 115.9.1 or later.
