Mozilla Firefox < 124.0.1

critical Nessus Plugin ID 192470

Synopsis

A web browser installed on the remote Windows host is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

The version of Firefox installed on the remote Windows host is prior to 124.0.1. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the mfsa2024-15 advisory.

- An attacker was able to perform an out-of-bounds read or write on a JavaScript object by fooling range- based bounds check elimination. (CVE-2024-29943)

- An attacker was able to inject an event handler into a privileged object that would allow arbitrary JavaScript execution in the parent process. Note: This vulnerability affects Desktop Firefox only, it does not affect mobile versions of Firefox. (CVE-2024-29944)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mozilla Firefox version 124.0.1 or later.
