Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing one or more security updates for dnsmasq.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 8 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2024:1335 advisory.

- bind9: KeyTrap - Extreme CPU consumption in DNSSEC validator (CVE-2023-50387)

- bind9: Preparing an NSEC3 closest encloser proof can exhaust CPU resources (CVE-2023-50868)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL dnsmasq package based on the guidance in RHSA-2024:1335.
