Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of microcode_ctl installed on the remote host is prior to 2.1-47. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the ALAS2-2024-2491 advisory.

- Non-transparent sharing of return predictor targets between contexts in some Intel Processors may allow an authorized user to potentially enable information disclosure via local access. (CVE-2023-38575) (CVE-2023-38575, CVE-2023-39368)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.
