Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for device-mapper-multipath.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 8 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2024:1110 advisory.

- device-mapper-multipath: multipathd: insecure handling of files in /dev/shm leading to symlink attack (CVE-2022-41973)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL device-mapper-multipath package based on the guidance in RHSA-2024:1110.
