Amazon Linux 2 : atril (ALASMATE-DESKTOP1.X-2024-007)

high Nessus Plugin ID 190804

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of atril installed on the remote host is prior to 1.20.2-1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2MATE-DESKTOP1.X-2024-007 advisory.

- Atril is a simple multi-page document viewer. Atril is vulnerable to a critical Command Injection Vulnerability. This vulnerability gives the attacker immediate access to the target system when the target user opens a crafted document or clicks on a crafted link/URL using a maliciously crafted CBT document which is a TAR archive. A patch is available at commit ce41df6. (CVE-2023-51698)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update atril' to update your system.
