GLSA-202402-22 : intel-microcode: Multiple Vulnerabilities

medium Nessus Plugin ID 190764

Description

The remote host is affected by the vulnerability described in GLSA-202402-22 (intel-microcode: Multiple Vulnerabilities)

- Insufficient control flow management in some Intel(R) Processors may allow an authenticated user to potentially enable a denial of service via local access. (CVE-2021-0127)

- Hardware allows activation of test or debug logic at runtime for some Intel(R) processors which may allow an unauthenticated user to potentially enable escalation of privilege via physical access. (CVE-2021-0146)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

All intel-microcode users should upgrade to the latest version:

# emerge --sync # emerge --ask --oneshot --verbose >=sys-firmware/intel-microcode-20230214_p20230212
