Dell Client BIOS DoS (DSA-2023-176)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 190130

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch

Description

The Dell BIOS on the remote device is missing a security patch and is, therefore, affected by a denial of service vulnerability. Due to a signed to unsigned conversion error, a local attacker with administrator privileges can cause a denial of service condition on an affected device.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Apply the security patch in accordance with the vendor advisory.
