Synopsis

An application running on a remote web server host is affected by a vulnerability

Description

The version of Splunk installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SVD-2024-0107 advisory.

- In Splunk Enterprise versions below 9.0.8, the Splunk RapidDiag utility discloses server responses from external applications in a log file. (CVE-2024-23677)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade Splunk Enterprise to 9.0.8 or higher. Splunk is actively monitoring and patching Splunk Cloud Platform instances.
