Synopsis

An application running on a remote web server host is affected by a vulnerability

Description

The version of Splunk installed on the remote host is prior to tested version. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SVD-2024-0105 advisory.

- In Splunk Enterprise versions below 9.0.8 and 9.1.3, Splunk app key value store (KV Store) improperly handles permissions for users that use the REST application programming interface (API). This can potentially result in the deletion of KV Store collections. (CVE-2024-23675)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade Splunk Enterprise to 9.0.8, 9.1.3, or higher.Splunk is actively monitoring and patching Splunk Cloud Platform instances.
