Amazon Linux 2 : snakeyaml (ALAS-2024-2403)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 187839

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of snakeyaml installed on the remote host is prior to 1.11-8. It is, therefore, affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the ALAS2-2024-2403 advisory.

- Using snakeYAML to parse untrusted YAML files may be vulnerable to Denial of Service attacks (DOS). If the parser is running on user supplied input, an attacker may supply content that causes the parser to crash by stackoverflow. (CVE-2022-38750, CVE-2022-38751)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update snakeyaml' to update your system.
