Curl 7.84.0 <= 8.4.0 Information Disclosure (CVE-2023-46219)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 187726

Synopsis

The remote host has a program that is affected by an information disclosure vulnerability.

Description

The version of Curl installed on the remote host is between 7.84.0 and 8.4.0. It is, therefore, affected by an information disclosure vulnerability. When saving HSTS data to an excessively long file name, Curl could end up removing all contents, making subsequent requests using that file unaware of the HSTS status they should otherwise use.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade Curl to version 8.5.0 or later
