SUSE SLES12 Security Update : poppler (SUSE-SU-2023:4941-1)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 187181

Language:

Synopsis

The remote SUSE host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote SUSE Linux SLES12 / SLES_SAP12 host has a package installed that is affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the SUSE-SU-2023:4941-1 advisory.

- poppler since version 0.17.3 has been vulnerable to NULL pointer dereference in pdfunite triggered by specially crafted documents. (CVE-2017-7511)

- In Poppler 0.72.0, PDFDoc::setup in PDFDoc.cc allows attackers to cause a denial-of-service (application crash caused by Object.h SIGABRT, because of a wrong return value from PDFDoc::setup) by crafting a PDF file in which an xref data structure is mishandled during extractPDFSubtype processing. (CVE-2018-20662)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libpoppler44 package.
