Security Update for Azure Identity Module (October 2023)

high Nessus Plugin ID 186329

Synopsis

The remote Windows host is affected by a remote code execution vulnerability.

Description

The version of Azure Identity installed on the remote host is prior to 3.3.1. It is, therefore, affected by a remote code execution vulnerability: As an authenticated user, the attacker could attempt to trigger malicious code in the context of the server's account through a network call. The privilege requirement is low because the attacker needs to be authenticated as a normal user.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the azure identity node module to version 3.3.1 or later.
