GitLab 16.2 < 16.3.6 / 16.4 < 16.4.2 / 16.5 < 16.5.1 (CVE-2023-5825)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 185485

Synopsis

The GitLab instance installed on the remote host is affected by a DoS vulnerability.

Description

The version of GitLab installed on the remote host is between 16.2 prior to 16.3.6, 16.4 prior to 16.4.2 or 16.5 prior to 16.5.1. It is, therefore, affected by a denial of service vulnerability as referenced in the vendor advisory.

- A low-privileged attacker can point a CI/CD Component to an incorrect path and cause the server to exhaust all available memory through an infinite loop and cause Denial of Service. (CVE-2023-5825)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to GitLab version 16.3.6, 16.4.2, 16.5.1 or later.
