Synopsis

The GitLab instance installed on the remote host is affected by a DoS vulnerability.

Description

The version of GitLab installed on the remote host is between 12.3 prior to 16.3.6, 16.4 prior to 16.4.2 or 16.5 prior to 16.5.1. It is, therefore, affected by a denial of service vulnerability as referenced in the vendor advisory.

- A Regular Expression Denial of Service was possible by adding a large string in timeout input in gitlab-ci.yml file. (CVE-2023-3909)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to GitLab version 16.3.6, 16.4.2, 16.5.1 or later.
