Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing a security update for shadow-utils.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 9 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the RHSA-2023:6632 advisory.

 - shadow-utils: possible password leak during passwd(1) change (CVE-2023-4641)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL shadow-utils package based on the guidance in RHSA-2023:6632.
