F5 Networks BIG-IP : iControl REST vulnerability (K20059815)

medium Nessus Plugin ID 184321

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to 14.1.0.2 / 14.1.2.8 / 14.1.3 / 15.0.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K20059815 advisory.

- In versions 14.1.0-14.1.0.1 and 14.1.2.5-14.1.2.7, when a BIG-IP object is created or listed through the REST interface, the protected fields are obfuscated in the REST response, not protected via a SecureVault cryptogram as TMSH does. One example of protected fields is the GTM monitor password. (CVE-2020-5943)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K20059815.
