F5 Networks BIG-IP : CGNAT LSN vulnerability (K04048104)

high Nessus Plugin ID 184214

Synopsis

The remote device is missing a vendor-supplied security patch.

Description

The version of F5 Networks BIG-IP installed on the remote host is prior to 14.1.3.1 / 15.1.1 / 16.0.1 / 16.1.0. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the K04048104 advisory.

- On BIG-IP LTM/CGNAT version 16.0.0-16.0.0.1, 15.1.0-15.1.0.5, 14.1.0-14.1.3, and 13.1.0-13.1.3.5, when processing NAT66 traffic with Port Block Allocation (PBA) mode and SP-DAG enabled, and dag-ipv6-prefix-len configured with a value less than the default of 128, an undisclosed traffic pattern may cause the Traffic Management Microkernel (TMM) to restart. (CVE-2020-27720)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to one of the non-vulnerable versions listed in the F5 Solution K04048104.
