Synopsis

The remote Debian host is missing a security-related update.

Description

The remote Debian 12 host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the dsa-5532 advisory.

- SO-AND-SO reports: Moderate severity: A bug has been identified in the processing of key and initialisation vector (IV) lengths. This can lead to potential truncation or overruns during the initialisation of some symmetric ciphers. (CVE-2023-5363)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the openssl packages.

For the stable distribution (bookworm), this problem has been fixed in version 3.0.11-1~deb12u2.
