Ubuntu 20.04 ESM : targetcli-fb vulnerabilities (USN-4871-1)

high Nessus Plugin ID 183536

Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 20.04 ESM host has a package installed that is affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the USN-4871-1 advisory.

- A flaw was found in Linux, in targetcli-fb versions 2.1.50 and 2.1.51 where the socket used by targetclid was world-writable. If a system enables the targetclid socket, a local attacker can use this flaw to modify the iSCSI configuration and escalate their privileges to root. (CVE-2020-10699)

- Open-iSCSI targetcli-fb through 2.1.52 has weak permissions for /etc/target (and for the backup directory and backup files). (CVE-2020-13867)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected targetcli-fb package.
