Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing one or more security updates.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 18.04 ESM host has a package installed that is affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the USN-4840-1 advisory.

- Singularity 2.3.0 through 2.5.1 is affected by an incorrect access control on systems supporting overlay file system. When using the overlay option, a malicious user may access sensitive information by exploiting a few specific Singularity features. (CVE-2018-12021)

- Sylabs Singularity 2.4 to 2.6 allows local users to conduct Improper Input Validation attacks.
(CVE-2018-19295)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected singularity-container package.
