Synopsis

The remote Ubuntu host is missing a security update.

Description

The remote Ubuntu 16.04 ESM / 18.04 ESM / 20.04 ESM host has packages installed that are affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the USN-5239-1 advisory.

 - Apache HttpClient versions prior to version 4.5.13 and 5.0.3 can misinterpret malformed authority component in request URIs passed to the library as java.net.URI object and pick the wrong target host for request execution. (CVE-2020-13956)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the affected libhttpclient-java and / or libhttpmime-java packages.
