Synopsis

The version of SaltStack running on the remote server is affected by multiple vulnerabilities.

Description

According to its self-reported version number, the instance of SaltStack hosted on the remote server is affected by multiple vulnerabilities:

- After receiving several bad packets on the request server equal to the number of worker threads, the master will become unresponsive to return requests until restarted. (CVE-2023-20897)

- Git Providers can read from the wrong environment because they get the same cache directory base name.
(CVE-2023-20898)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version

Solution

Upgrade to SaltStack version referenced in the vendor security advisory.
