Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of exiv2 installed on the remote host is prior to 0.27.0-4. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2-2023-2284 advisory.

- Buffer Overflow vulnerability in tEXtToDataBuf function in pngimage.cpp in Exiv2 0.27.1 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service and other unspecified impacts via use of crafted file.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update exiv2' to update your system.
