Synopsis

A web application running on the remote server is affected by an incorrect authorization vulnerability.

Description

The version of Mattermost Server running on the remote host is prior to 7.8.10 or 8.x prior to 8.1.1. It is, therefore, affected by an incorrect authorization vulnerability. Mattermost fails to properly validate permissions when demoting and deactivating a user allowing for a system/user manager to demote / deactivate another manager.

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade to Mattermost Server version 7.8.10, 8.1.1, or later.
