Amazon Linux 2 : haproxy2 (ALASHAPROXY2-2023-006)

high Nessus Plugin ID 181985

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of haproxy2 installed on the remote host is prior to 2.1.4-1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2HAPROXY2-2023-006 advisory.

- In hpack_dht_insert in hpack-tbl.c in the HPACK decoder in HAProxy 1.8 through 2.x before 2.1.4, a remote attacker can write arbitrary bytes around a certain location on the heap via a crafted HTTP/2 request, possibly causing remote code execution. (CVE-2020-11100)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update haproxy2' to update your system.
