Amazon Linux 2 : ansible (ALASANSIBLE2-2023-005)

high Nessus Plugin ID 181973

Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of ansible installed on the remote host is prior to 2.9.13-1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2ANSIBLE2-2023-005 advisory.

- A flaw was found in the Ansible Engine, in ansible-engine 2.8.x before 2.8.15 and ansible-engine 2.9.x before 2.9.13, when installing packages using the dnf module. GPG signatures are ignored during installation even when disable_gpg_check is set to False, which is the default behavior. This flaw leads to malicious packages being installed on the system and arbitrary code executed via package installation scripts. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to integrity and system availability.
(CVE-2020-14365)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update ansible' to update your system.
