Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of python38 installed on the remote host is prior to 3.8.16-1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2PYTHON3.8-2023-001 advisory.

 - An issue in the urllib.parse component of Python before 3.11.4 allows attackers to bypass blocklisting methods by supplying a URL that starts with blank characters. (CVE-2023-24329)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update python38' to update your system.
