Synopsis

The remote Amazon Linux 2 host is missing a security update.

Description

The version of nginx installed on the remote host is prior to 1.18.0-1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the ALAS2NGINX1-2023-004 advisory.

 - NGINX before 1.17.7, with certain error_page configurations, allows HTTP request smuggling, as demonstrated by the ability of an attacker to read unauthorized web pages in environments where NGINX is being fronted by a load balancer. (CVE-2019-20372)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Run 'yum update nginx' to update your system.
